3 Benefits to a Well-Run HR Department

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal, called "Companies Say No to Having an HR Department," notes that companies ditching traditional HR are finding that "the only thing worse than having an HR department is not having one." While HR is often perceived as a pain, it doesn't have to be that way. Human Capital Management software, coupled in with the right people, allows your HR department to function like it should instead of continuing to carry a negative perception. Here are a ... Steve Bogner Hosts an SAP Panel with Mike Timm and Brigid Sternberg

As Steve Bogner of Insight Consulting Partners jokes about SAP, "once you get into payroll, you don't go back." While the SAP HCM Payroll module is immensely useful, taking full advantage of its functionality requires an intimate understanding of the processes at play behind the scenes--something that isn't always easy, given how many factors are involved. This is a well-known dilemma for many business owners using SAP HCM software, which is exactly the reason that the SAPinsider studio hosted an SAP panel at ... Read more

SAP to Acquire Fieldglass

Just yesterday, SAP announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Fieldglass, a "provider of cloud-based vendor and labor management services." With the rise in popularity of the cloud, more and more businesses have been looking for HCM software that utilizes the flexibility and scalability that the cloud offers. HR 2014 Recap

HR2014 was a delight, and the days went way too quickly to catch all the great content! It was obvious from the start that SuccessFactors was going to take center stage, and all attending had the opportunity to learn in great detail. We learned from David Ludlow that SuccessFactors and SAP ECC has an ever-growing amount of new and stable virtual integration. If you missed the keynote, you can catch it on demand at SAPInsider. I had great conversations throughout the days and evenings ... Read more

HR 2014 Photo Update: Day 2

A lot has happened at HR 2014 since my first update on Tuesday morning. Of everything I've seen thus far, one of my favorite events was the panel discussion in Bay Lake between Sharon Newton (@sharonnewton) and Steve Bogner (@stevebogner), moderated by Brandon Toombs (@brandontoombs). One of the best quotes--made in jest, of course--was that "you'll have to fire everyone," in response to an attendee asking what moving to the cloud would mean for their staff. It was obvious from the questions and answers ... During HR 2013, SAP provided more details about integrating SAP and SuccessFactors along with what their intentions with SuccessFactors were for the road ahead. Customers and colleagues left understanding that a significant shift was taking place, and many left wondering exactly how it would fit within their existing IT structure. SuccessFactors has garnered many more ... Read more
